United Way of Greater New Haven is a funding partner in Secure Jobs, a collaborative effort that helps formerly homeless people find a job.
Employment is the best way to keep people who were homeless in their new homes.
Secure Jobs helps people who used to be homeless go back to school, find child care, develop their resume, and connect with employers. The program helps pay for some of these costs, and also provides a team who helps participants get organized, get focused, and gives them a confidence boost before a big interview. United Way’s investment has helped secure funding from the Melville Charitable Trust for the New Haven initiative. In addition to providing grant funds, United Way has provided tools to help the partner organizations work together in new and more effective ways on behalf of the families they are jointly serving.
