Community Navigators

COMMUNITY NAVIGATORS ARE HERE TO HELP!

Join us tomorrow, Tuesday, August 27 at 12PM on Facebook Live when we'll announce the official launch of the Community Navigator program. At this virtual event, you’ll get to learn more about what the navigators have to offer!

Community Navigators provide free, one-on-one support to residents in financial hardship by helping to access job training programs, education, financial assistance, and other resources to improve your employment prospects and income stability.

Some of the barriers of achieving financial stability can include not getting enough hours at work, not making enough in hourly wages or salary, a lack of skills training, disabilities, and more. Community Navigators will help you break those barriers and move towards the financial future you envision for yourself and your family.

If you are a Greater New Haven resident experiencing financial challenges, United Way’s Community Navigators are available to give you guidance.

Go here for a list of the various challenges that typical clients face to see if partnering with a Community Navigator is the right next step for you.

If you’re not sure what next steps to take on your journey to financial stability, we invite you to contact our Community Navigators for advisement. Make a one-on-one appointment.

If you are a Greater New Haven Resident and need help with:

  • Getting a job, or finding a higher paying job
  • Finding affordable childcare or youth programs
  • Finding affordable housing or food resources
  • Finding disability services

…or other financial challenges, a Community Navigator can help you find the resources you need to overcome the obstacles on your way to financial stability and success!

What to expect:

  • Book a virtual or in-person appointment with one of our Community Navigators (habla Espanol)
  • Your Community Navigator will talk to you about the challenges you are facing, and help you identify your goals and priorities.
  • Your Community Navigator will connect you with programs and resources to meet your needs, and will follow up with you to make sure you were able to find what you need.
  • The initial appointment is usually about 30 minutes or less. Most clients have between 2 - 4 follow up appointments or calls with their Navigator.
  • This is a free service for residents of Greater New Haven. There is no proof of income or proof of citizenship needed to access this service.
