SNAP has undergone many changes in recent months. Do you have questions or concerns about your SNAP benefits? Here is a list of resources that may be helpful:

What You’ll Need

Whether you’d like to receive help via text message, phone call, or in-person appointment, you’ll need the same documents for your SNAP application. These include:

  •  - Social Security numbers for all applying members of your household

  •  - Documents that confirm your home address

  •  - Documents that confirm your citizenship or immigration status (some non-citizens are eligible based on their immigration status)

  •  - Other documents as requested (pay stubs, proof of other income, student status)

 

Front Door Benefits – Help online or by text

To check your eligibility and apply for SNAP online, complete the application online at openfrontdoor.com/uwgnh

To renew or update your benefits, text UWGNH to 860-750-8500. Then, send a second text message explaining what you’d like help with. You can also send pictures or notices or documents you may have received about your SNAP benefits. All communications will be sent via text 

 

CT Foodshare SNAP Outreach – Help online or by phone call

Call 860-856-HELP (860-856-4357) to schedule an appointment with a SNAP Outreach Worker who can help you apply for SNAP over the phone.

You can also request an appointment online here (English) or here (Spanish).

Once scheduled, the application will take about 30 minutes to complete with the help of a SNAP Outreach Worker.

 

Community Action Agency – Help by phone call or in person

Local community action agencies can help with SNAP applications, renewals, and eligibility screenings. Residents of Greater New Haven can contact Community Action Agency of New Haven (CAANH) at 203-387-7700 to schedule an appointment. CAANH is located at 419 Whalley Avenue in New Haven.

Residents outside of Greater New Haven can contact their local community action agency for help with SNAP – find your local agency here.
