Building an Equitable Community

We must speak out against racism towards Asian American and Pacific Islanders and protect the basic human rights and freedoms to which they are entitled.

Less than a year ago, United Way of Greater New Haven issued a Letter to Our Neighbors denouncing the racially motivated killings of Black Americans and outlining our commitment to making greater New Haven a more equitable, just, and inclusive community. Today, we must again condemn acts of racism and ethnic violence against all of our neighbors, including the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. We must again confront the anxiety and grief resulting from hate-fueled violence. And we must again call on every person in our community to join us to ensure unobstructed access to the benefits, opportunities, rights, privileges, and protections society has to offer social equity is enjoyed by all.

We at United Way have committed to building a better, stronger, and more equitable community. To deliver on this promise we must speak out against racism towards Asian American and Pacific Islanders; and protect the basic human rights and freedoms to which they are entitled.
