Denim’s Reading Transformation
Denim, a fourth-grader at Edgewood School in New Haven, has shown remarkable progress through the New Haven Tutoring Initiative (NHTI). When Denim began, he was reading below a first-grade level. Through the dedicated support of his tutor, Chaz, and the resources provided by Upon This Rock Academy, Denim now reads at grade level.
“Denim’s ability to encode and decode words has greatly improved. His excitement for learning has grown, and his confidence has soared,” says Chaz. Denim’s story is a testament to the power of personalized tutoring and the positive impact of community collaboration.
“I like reading now, and my favorite book is Breathe,” says Denim. His success highlights the transformative effect of the NHTI and its dedicated partners.
