Helping Kids Thrive

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela

All kids deserve the chance to reach their full potential. United Way of Greater New Haven supports children’s learning journey from birth to graduation with a variety of programs and strategies.

Let's make quality education available to all.

Healthy Growth & Development

From cradle to career, we help kids experience lifelong success. That means helping them get a strong start, continuing to spark their curiosity and making sure teachers, caregivers and parents can better support children’s healthy growth and development. When all kids have access to quality education they have brighter futures and help make our community stronger.

Creating Learning Opportunities

EARLY HEAD START

We create two-generational change by providing infants and toddlers with a comprehensive program to meet their emotional, social, health, and nutritional needs and support the families in improving their lives.

LOCAL EARLY CHILDHOOD COUNCILS

We participate on local early childhood councils in our region, which bring together a wide range of partners to ensure all families in greater New Haven have access to quality early childhood programming and information.

SECURE START

A nurturing bond between a parent and a child has been shown to be one of the most important factors in a child’s overall health and life success. We support a network of community partners to offer parent support and education through our Secure Start Initiative.

LEARNING HUBS

Together with community partners, we raised funds to provide safe spaces for students to participate in online classes and maintain connections with their teachers and classmates. As a result, we have created a passionate network of committed advocates for our young people in our region.
