SECURE START

What is Attachment?
Attachment is when children feel protected and safe with their caregivers and know, instinctively, that they can rely on them for safety and support.

What is COS-P?
Circle of Security – Parenting is an 8 session long parent-reflection program which teaches parents how to recognize their child’s cues and create a secure bond with their child. This course helps parents build self-reflection skills, promote secure attachment in children, and shift the focus from behavior management to enhancing the child-parent relationship.

The Secure Start Network

In 2013, UWGNH established the Secure Start Network (SSN) to support individuals and agencies offering Circle of Security-Parenting groups in the Greater New Haven region. There are currently 58 members of this group who meet quarterly. Managed by UWGNH, the SSN provides support by providing space to discuss best practices, foster collaboration, share resources, and offering reflective supervision to group facilitators. Meetings are held quarterly and membership is free to any facilitator or agency currently offering or planning on beginning COS-P groups in the Greater New Haven region. If you are interested in joining, please email us.
